The CEO of Generación ZOE, Leonardo Cositorto, arrived in Argentina this morning after being arrested last week in the Dominican Republic and extradited. after having remained a fugitive for more than a month, accused of fraud and illicit association.
According to Télam airport sourcesCositorto arrived on flight AV217 of the Colombian company Avianca, which landed at the Ezeiza international airport at 0:13 on Tuesday.
The detainee traveled together with the custody of the Federal Police in Economy class, and remained handcuffed throughout the flight.
Around thirty officers, including agents from Interpol, the Airport Security Police (PSA) and the Federal Police, were part of the reception operation, including his defense attorney, Miguel Ángel Pierri.
Cositorto was taken off the aircraft and taken to the PSA custody area, where he remained until around two in the morning, when His transfer to the Interpol headquarters in the Palermo neighborhood began.
The delegation left through PSA Post 1 under a strict security operation and immediately headed down the Riccheri Highway to its destination at 3378 Cavia Street.
According to the sources, this afternoon or at the latest next Wednesday he will be transferred to Villa María, Córdoba, where the headquarters of Generation Zoe worked and where the legal case in which he and other members of the organization are involved is located.
Cositorto was arrested by Interpol on Monday, April 4, and was able to be located thanks to the fact that, even in his condition, he continued to hold teleconferences and virtual classes, which were key to achieving his location and subsequent apprehension.
At the same time, the Investigating Prosecutor of the second shift of Villa María, Juliana Companys, led an operation where lawyer Gustavo Saavedra, who is part of Leonardo Cositorto’s team at Generación Zoe, was arrested.
Saavedra was apprehended at a home in the town of Ituzaingó in the province of Buenos Aires and was charged with illicit association and fraud, and in that place cash and documentation related to the case was seized.
The new detainee will be transferred to Villa María together with Cositorto, according to the sources consulted.
