Speaking to students at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Leo Pericles, candidate for President of the Republic for the Popular Unity (UP), defended today (28) a change in public security policies. He criticized existing structures and advocated the creation of a community police.
“We have to put an end to the rubble of the dictatorship that not only exists in politics, but also in the judiciary. It is necessary to create a community police. that exist because people are unemployed, depressed and have no prospect of life,” he said.
The candidate stated that most crimes are not kidnappings, rapes and murders, but crimes against property. According to him, only socialism offers an answer to this scenario. “It is necessary to resolve the material conditions of people’s lives or the conditions of public security in Brazil will not change”, he reiterated.
In addition to debating with university students, Leo Pericles took walks throughout the day in the center and south of Rio de Janeiro. Tomorrow (29), he continues in the capital of Rio de Janeiro and has activities planned on Ilha do Fundão, in Madureira and in Tijuca.
