The civil association Legitimate Justice ruled today in favor of the Income Tax also reaching judges, prosecutors and judicial officials, whom it asked to “leave aside all pettiness” so that in this way they can “honor” their workplaces “to transform them into authentic support of the democratic, republican, representative and federal system”.
“Our position has always been in favor of tax equalityof the rejection of all privileges”, declared Legitimate Justice in a document titled “Tax Equality” that it spread on its social networks on the internet.
In this sense, he maintained that “judges, magistrates, civil servants and employees must pay the same taxes that correspond to pay any inhabitant of the country.”
The Legitimate Justice Civil Association clarified that it expressed its position “before the debate that arose around the incorporation of an article in the Opinion of the 2023 Budget project” to be discussed in the Chamber of Deputies
“The Justice Administration System should not be exempted from such a tax by virtue of a questionable constitutional interpretation. Especially in these hours of anxiety for broad layers of the population submerged in poverty, this would constitute one more dishonor to the already discredited judicial system,” the association stressed.
However, from that group it was clarified that this position should be interpreted “without prejudice to the criticisms we make of the tax system, which should be fairer and more equitable.”
“We call on all the judges, magistrates, civil servants, workers to reflect, we call for progress with the gradualness that allowed us to inaugurate the incorporation of the tax in 2017, and to put aside all pettiness,” the group exhorted, noting that “in this way they will be able to honor that invaluable place of work that they hold, to transform it into a true support of the democratic, republican, representative and federal system,” they stressed.

The Legitimate Justice Civil Association clarified that it thus expressed its position “in the face of the debate that arose around the incorporation of an article in the Opinion of the 2023 Budget project” to be discussed in the Chamber of Deputies, “by which judges, prosecutors and judicial officials will be affected by income tax”.
“We have warned that sectors of the Judiciary have immediately expressed their categorical rejection by declaring themselves ‘in permanent session’ in order to hold this debate, which by the way is not new in our country. To the point that in 2017, after an identical controversy, progress was made by incorporating said tax on the new magistrates,” said the group.
In this way, he stressed that Legitimate Justice “was born with the task of reconciling the Justice Administration System with the citizenry, as the sole source of its legitimacy”, aspiring “to remove it from the discredit to which years of isolation had brought it. With such a definition of principles, this association was founded 10 years ago”.
“Since then We have been supporting this fight for a Judicial Power that does justice with a social sense, with a democratic spirit, with adherence to the values of equality and inclusion.for a democratic Judiciary that leaves corporatism, elitism and all privileges behind,” the statement said.
