In Senate committees, an appeal was advanced to the authorities of the 32 entities so that driver’s licenses include a section in which people express whether they wish to be organ donors.
The proposal is being discussed in that Chamber at a time when more than 19 thousand people are on the waiting list for an organ or tissue, according to data from the National Transplant Center.
The opinion endorsed unanimously by the Government Commission establishes that many of the patients waiting for an organ donation die before receiving it.
One of the main challenges, he points out, is to increase the number of donors through practical and accessible mechanisms that allow them to express in a clear and simple way the desire that their organs be used if necessary.
For this reason, the driver’s license, which is an identification that the majority of citizens have, is intended to be the tool to promote the culture of organ and tissue donation. The opinion was sent to the Senate board of directors so that it could be submitted to the plenary session.
On the other hand, the commission approved a draft decree declaring September 27 as the Day commemorating the Nationalization of the Electrical Industry.
An opinion was also endorsed declaring the second Friday of September of each year as the National Day of Made in Mexico, and that October 6 be considered the National Day of Mexican Propolis.
