This Monday, December 27, Minister Salinas received a delegation of legislators from all parties to analyze a solution to the closure of the Casa de Galicia mutual fund.
After the meeting, the Senator of the Broad Front, Daniel Olesker, one of the promoters of the Integrated Health System, in the first government of Tabaré Vázquez, told the press that no solution is ruled out.
Olesker stated that one of the proposals is the absorption of all or part of Casa de Galicia’s assistance structure by ASSE.
The minister was also asked that another proposal could be that a consortium of mutualists in the area guarantee health care for users and the employment of workers.
“We reaffirm that any solution must take into account the 44 thousand users, the almost 2,000 salaried medical and non-medical workers and the health infrastructure that is located in a very important area of the capital, such as the northwest of Montevideo” Olesker remarked.
Positive
The socialist parliamentarian assured that Salinas positively valued the construction of the Integrated Health System, which has the capacity to absorb a special critical situation and which is not the norm.
To this end, the legislators proposed a bill referring to the fact that before judicial intervention, the trustees are obliged to summon Public Health, “the opposite of what happened in this case.”
They also raised a legal initiative to empower ASSE to purchase the Casa de Galicia infrastructure.
Olesker assured that the government promised to pay the salary in December to the workers of Casa de Galicia, and the bonus on January 3, 2022.
