With the recent changes officials will be able to freely spread the aspirations of others, but without using public resourceswhile personalized promotion is prohibited to themselves.

Other changes consist in the fact that “information of public interest carried out by public servants, in accordance with the General Law of Transparency and Access to Public Information, disseminated in any format for free” will not be government propaganda either “with which, for example in the morning, they will save restrictions on their diffusion whether or not there are campaigns in progress.

unconstitutional

Even when these norms enter into force, the prohibition in the Constitution on the personalized promotion of public servants, which consists of disseminating propaganda with images, voices, names of officials, remains in force.

It is because of these restrictions, confirmed by the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judiciary (TEPJF), that the National Electoral Institute (INE) had ordered the withdrawal of propaganda, summoned the officials involved to appear, and urged the head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum, to distance herself, which for her and her followers is a sign of “partiality and authoritarianism” of the electoral body.

Opposition legislators have warned of the unconstitutionality of the changes and have warned that they will go to the Supreme Court to combat them.
