They explained that although a habeas corpus can be presented without major formalities as indicated in the constitution, they reject any unauthorized action on their client.
The legal team of former President Juan Carlos Varela issued a statement clarifying that he has not filed any writ of habeas corpus.
This after learning that a lawyer, who is not part of the team, nor has power over the former president, filed the legal appeal without authorization.
They explained that although a habeas corpus can be presented without major formalities as indicated in the constitution, they reject any unauthorized action on their client.
“We reject the individual action and it was not approved, nor known by our client, we will be doing the proper investigations to determine the purposes of this ill-intentioned use of said resource,” said attorneys Orison Cogley and Erasmo Muñoz.
