Legal Experts: Trump Could Be Indicted on Criminal Charges

Legal experts are weighing the chances that former President Donald Trump will be charged following the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) search for official documents at his Mar-a-Lago mansion.

According to a new report published by Business Insider, people who have been close to his inner circle said he could be in serious legal trouble. “You should be worried about all these investigations,” said a lawyer. “I think he is a target and I think he will be charged.”

While Trump faces several federal and state investigations, the Justice Department probe is the case that is currently at the forefront. Investigators are working to determine if the former president broke the law by seizing government documents when he left the White House in January 2020.

Trump is also a focal point in the Justice Department’s “expanding criminal investigation” into the events surrounding the unrest on Capitol Hill that has subpoenaed several former top White House officials in recent weeks.

He also faces a criminal investigation in Fulton County, Georgia, but his former attorney Alan Dershowitz has said he is more concerned about the Trump Organization investigation, which is being carried out by New York Attorney General Letitia James. “Right now it’s just civilian, but you never know,” she said. “The civil can always become criminal, as happened with Weisselberg.”
