With the expectation of achieve business for $20,000 million and 8,000 visitors in four days, tomorrow begins International Footwear & Leather Show (IFLS) + International Exhibition of Leather and Supplies, Machinery and Technology (EICI).
This event, which has confirmed exhibitors from ArgentinaBrazil, Ecuador, ItalyMexico, Portugal and Colombia is organized by the Colombian Association of footwear, leather and its manufactures industry, Acicam.
It is expected that the fair will be an opportunity for the supply of supplies and components, which can help mitigate the negative effects generated by the logistics crisis and the shortage of supplies that it faces. the chain of the footwear sector that is in reactivation.
According to data from dane, The footwear industry from January to November 2021 grew 42.2% in production and 38.6% in sales.
For its part, the sector of leather goods observe increases of 27.5% in production and 24.5% in the sales. Other data on the performance of the sector, from the Acicam-Raddar footwear and leather goods observatory, Colombian households in 2021, consumed $3.4 billion with an increase of 38% compared to 2020.
Regarding the consumption of wallets and straps, these items present a consumption of 325 billion pesos with an increase of 13%.
“Although these figures are encouraging, they could have been higher, but the effect of the decrease in the supply of raw materials and components and the shortage of containers meant that the increase shown was not greater.”, explained Acicam.
Hence the importance of the IFLS + EICI, as a business platform. It is expected that in this new version it will contribute to the strengthening of the sector and the reactivation of business at the time.
