Award -winning documentary filmmaker, with a hundred titles, filmmaker Silvio Tendler died on Friday (5)at 75, in Rio de Janeiro.
Tendler was notable for his political and historical cinematography. Over the course of more than five decades of career, it has produced and directed over 70 films and 12 television series – some of them displayed by TV Brazilpublic television broadcaster managed by Brazil Communication Company (EBC).
His work was marked for portraying biographies of personalities such as former President João Goulart, Juscelino Kubitschek and Carlos Marighella.
“Silvio Tendler is an unavoidable name in the history of the Brazilian documentary. Filmmaker and activist, has always fought for Brazilian democracy. In this extent, TV Brazilwhose mission is to foster critical sense, I could not fail to have works of it. These works that honor us very much to program and display, ”says the director of programming and content of EBCAntonia Pellegrino.
Tendler too produced films on Brazilian intellectuals, researchers and artists as Josué de Castro – Citizen of the World (1994), Milton Santos – Thinker of Brazil (2001); Glauber The Movie, Labyrinth of Brazil (2003).
