December 15th is the deadline for companies to deposit the gratification corresponding to December. This is a benefit received by private sector workers who worked at least a full month during the semester.
This is extra income that you can take advantage of. To this end, the dean of the Business Faculty of the Universidad Privada del Norte (UPN), Augusto Cáceres, considered that, for example, the payment of debts can be prioritized, which allows financial burdens to be released in the medium term and improve the savings capacity.
If you do not have urgent debts or they are under control, he suggested allocating a part of the bonus to save it, as it can serve as a cushion against unforeseen events and thus avoid resorting to credit.
Another option that is presented is to invest in a business, training or a course that allows you to improve as a professional.
“Allocating at least 20% of the bonus to an emergency fund or safe investments helps build long-term stability. For those who have financial support, reinvesting in their education or in tools that generate future income can make a big difference,” said Augusto Cáceres.
However, the expert pointed out that before deciding how to use that money, it is important to identify what the usual expenses are as well as the current debts.
CAUTION
For his part, the professor and finance expert at Pacífico Business School, Jorge Carrillo, recommended being careful with scams at this time. For example, he indicated that he should be wary if they contact him for an investment, since the companies that channel these disbursements do not send emails, messages or call.
He also suggested being careful with those companies that raise money from third parties, because this requires authorization from the SBS. “Be careful if they guarantee high profitability in a short time,” he added.
