Leandro Subirana travels to Cochabamba to measure himself in the National Karate Championship

Leandro Subirana will participate in the VII National Karate in Cochabamba. The goal of the 20-year-old athlete is to return to Santa Cruz with 5 medals in demonstration and combat. If he achieves this, he will take a gigantic step towards the other National (it will be on Santa Cruz soil in March), and thus shape himself to be part of the Bolivian team in 2023.

The karate fighter will compete this Saturday and Sunday with 271 athletes. His wish is to be part of the Bolivian team in 2023, and For this, they must have a great performance in both National Championships.

“We will have 271 athletes from Beni, Santa Cruz, La Paz, Chuquisaca, Cochabamba and Tarija. This is our last event of the year at the competition level.” indicated Kjarol Herrera, president of the Bolivian Karate Federation, according to the portal La Voz de Tarija.

The Gróver Suárez Coliseum will host the event with several categories: from U-6 to Senior, both in ladies and men. It is also known that there will be two modalities, Kata (forms) and Kumite (combat).

Leandro was that boy who went viral on TikTok in September 2022. Back then, the karate fighter raised funds by his own means to travel to Turkey for a World Cup (He sold waffles around the Gabriel René Moreno Autonomous University).

“I couldn’t manage to get all the funds together”, he said, at the time of pointing out to the authorities for their zero help, according to what he mentioned to the RDC Deportes portal. At the end of the year, Subirana looks forward to showing off his talent in Cochabamba and raising the flag of Santa Cruz.
