The Comptroller General of the Republic warned of serious deficiencies in the infrastructure and equipment of the new San Martín de Pangoa Hospital, a work carried out by the Regional Government of Junín and valued at more than S/ 94 million.

A few weeks before the scheduled date for its delivery, the new San Martín de Pangoa Hospital presents deficiencies, as was alerted by the Comptroller’s Office in its Control Milestone Report No. 17554-2025-CG/GRJU-SCC.
During an inspection carried out between October 16 and 17, the control body identified rainwater leaks in the metal covers of blocks D, F, K and L. The drip went through the joists, generated corrosion in metal elements and caused premature deterioration of the asphalt layer.
In addition, the Comptroller’s Office verified that 18 of the 20 pieces of equipment considered “recoverable” for the new hospital, including monitors, incubators, centrifuges, delivery tables and an anesthesia machine, are in poor or obsolete condition, which would prevent their operational integration into the new establishment. Even one of the teams could not be located.

The directors of the hospital and the Pangoa Health Network reported that some equipment was previously replaced, but until the report was issued, they did not send documentation proving said replacement.
The project, which began in 2020, has accumulated 27 deadline extensions, three stoppages and one suspension, extending its delivery until November 29, 2025, despite reporting a physical progress of 90.11% as of September.
