Santo Domingo.- The president Luis Abinader receives this Wednesdays the credentials of the new representative of the United States, Leah Francis Campos, who formally begins his diplomatic mission in the Dominican Republic with a broad bilateral agenda focused on security, migration, strategic cooperation and trade strengthening.
Campos, who arrived in the country on October 30 through the Las Américas International Airport on a flight from Newark, was later received by the cChancellor Roberto Álvarez, to whom he gave the style copies of his diplomatic credentials.
His meeting today with President Abinader marks the official beginning of his administration.

An intense and strategic agenda
During her confirmation hearing before the US Senate, Leah Francis Campos outlined the axes that will define her work in Santo Domingo:
Regional security
Strengthen bilateral collaboration against drug trafficking, transnational organized crime and other threats that impact the stability of the Caribbean.
Irregular migration
Expand coordination with Dominican authorities to control illegal migratory flows and strengthen border security.
Geopolitical competition
Counteract China’s growing influence in the region, considered by Washington a strategic challenge for hemispheric security.
Trade and investment
Promote new economic opportunities, attract greater US investment and deepen commercial ties between both countries.
A conservative profile and strategic focus
Former CIA analyst and diplomat with experience in security issues, Campos arrives in the Dominican Republic with a profile aligned with the priorities of the Trump administration.
