The report of the Federal Government project that exempts those who earn up to R $ 5,000 of Income Tax (IR) will be presented by the rapporteur, federal deputy Arthur Lira (PP-AL), later this Tuesday (23), said the president of the Chamber of Deputies, federal deputy Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB). The presentation will be at the meeting of leaders this afternoon.
“We will have a meeting of leaders where the rapporteur of the matter, Arthur Lira, will present his report at the College of Leaders, and, after this presentation, we must already draw a voting schedule so that the House can bring its position on this important theme to Brazilian society,” he said.
Yesterday (22), Motta signaled that the text should be voted at the house next week.
“I called Deputy Arthur Lira [relator desse projeto] To go to the College of Leaders this week explain your report, and so that, listening to the college, we can have a position on the agenda this week and, if possible, already take the agenda next week [para votação]. This is an important agenda, we know how much it will bring, from the point of view of tax justice, significant advances to millions of Brazilians. I think it is an agenda that, in its maturity, comes time to take this agenda to the plenary, ”Motta said at an event promoted by Banco BTG Pactual, in São Paulo.
RICE RATE
The project provides for the exemption of income tax for those who earn up to R $ 5,000 and the partial reduction of tax for those who receive between R $ 5,000 and R $ 7,350. To compensate for this collection loss, the federal government proposes an extra progressive rate of up to 10% for those who earn over $ 600,000 per year, or $ 50,000 per month.
The extra 10% extra rate will be charged from those who earn from R $ 1.2 million per year, or R $ 100 thousand per month.
The proposal also brings 10% tax on dividends sent abroad, which was maintained by Arthur Lira in his report. The parliamentarian instituted three exceptions to the collection of dividends: when sent to foreign governments, provided that there is reciprocity of treatment, remittances to sovereign funds and remittances to abroad entities that manage social security benefits.
Lula and Trump Meeting
Earlier this afternoon, Motta commented on the nomination that a meeting may occur between presidents Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Donald Trump, from the United States, next week. The meeting was announced by Trumpduring his speech at the United Nations General Assembly.
Motta said the initiative welcomed and believes in a dialogued solutionwith diplomacy, to resolve the imbroglio involving the tariff committed by Trump and the sanctions to Brazilian authorities.
“I see very welcome what happened as a result of this UN Assembly today. I have always argued that dialogue, diplomacy, can help our countries, which have historical relations of hundreds of years, solve this imbroglio,” said Motta. “I always argue that the Brazilian government can, in dialogue with the US government, settle doubts and leave behind rates and sanctions and resume the relationship between countries.”
“Brazil has strong institutions, a strong democracy. Our sovereignty has no discussion. I trust that, through dialogue and democracy, this situation can be resolved,” he added.
