Diversity enriches us and has always been part of our collective identity”.

To its turn, The Minister of Science and Technology, Daniel Filmus, stated: “Let us continue promoting integration, respect and equality to build a fair, diverse, inclusive and sovereign homeland”.

Official senator Anabel Fernández Sagasti assured that “a more inclusive and egalitarian society, that promotes intercultural dialogue and values ​​the history of our original peoples, is only possible through respect for #CulturalDiversity.”

In that line, the governor of Rio Negro, Arabela Carreras, stated that “today is a day of historical reflection and intercultural dialogue. In Río Negro we maintain a respectful and peaceful coexistence with the 189 communities of native peoples. We continue to promote an integrated and diverse province.”

For the Rioja governor, Ricardo Quintela, “celebrating cultural diversity is recognizing ourselves, valuing all the cultural expressions that make up our identity as a province and as a country”.

“May this be a date for reflection and awareness on the recognition of the rights of our original peoples,” the president yearned through his social networks.

For its part, the governor of Salta, Gustavo Sáenz, pointed out that “each of the cultures that make up the province and the country enrich us as a society. It is essential that we reflect on an Argentina based on values, dialogue and tolerance. Let us continue promoting respect and plurality”.

While the legislator and president of the Buenos Aires UCR, Maxi Abad, wrote: “May the #DíaDeLaDiversidadCultural serve us to value and respect, today and always, the diverse identities that coexist in our country. Recognizing and taking care of ourselves is the first step so that, together, we can make a better Province and Argentina”, he added.

Every October 12, the Day of Respect for Cultural Diversity is commemorated in Argentina, this date recalls the expedition made by Christopher Columbus in 1492 to the American Continent and seeks to make visible the original inhabitants of America.

Until 2010, this date was called “Día de la Raza”, but the then president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner decided to modify the name in order to give it a meaning that “truly recognizes the ethnic and cultural diversity of the various native peoples”.
