The political leader Ramon Leonel Urena Bautista He announced this Thursday his resignation from the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), pointing out that there is “a struggle between sectors” within the political party.

«Now the PLD attends a “renewal” Congress and what we see is a fight between sectors and groups within the party, with disqualifications, defamation and insultswhich will surely deepen the weakening and abandonment of the principles that gave rise to it. We resign as a member of the PLD, but we will continue fighting for the demands of the Dominican people from other trenches,” he considered in his resignation letter.

The leader highlighted his years of activism and his commitment to the party during several occupations.

Among his positions held are:

– Member of the Middle Management of the CI Gregorio Luperón elected in the first elections held by the PLD after its founding.
– Vice Secretary of the Secretariats of Health and Union Affairs until 2020.
– President of the PLD Union Current for 15 years.
– Candidate for the Presidency of the Domingo Medical College for the PLD Union Current (2007)
– Member of the Executive Committee of the CMD in several periods representing the Trade Union Current of the PLD. Inter alia.

With his departure, Leonel Ureña joins the politician Sunday Contreras as the most notable personalities who have resigned from the purple party in the last week, which has generated confusion among PLD followers.
