Bundesliga leader Bayern Munich suffered more than expected to beat bottom club Greuther Fürth 4-1 at homethis Sunday on matchday 23, with which he was able to consolidate his first place.
The bottom of the table surprised on the brink of half-time, when the Swede of Croatian descent Branimir Hrgota put Greuther Fürth ahead in 42, setting off the alarms at the Allianz Arena.
In the second half, Bayern managed to put out the fire. He entered already determined to do so and Robert Lewandowski equalized in the 46th minute, before a goal against Sebastian Griesbeck (61) put the Munich team ahead, which he then sentenced with another goal from Lewandowski (82) and the final goal from Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (90+1).
The Polish attacker, with this double, further increases his hegemony in the Bundesliga scorers table, where he already leads with 28 goals, increasing to eight his advantage over the second, the Czech Patrick Schick (Bayer Leverkusen), who has 20.
But beyond Lewandowski’s new display of leadership or the three points scored, Bayern managed to avoid falling into a crisis, after recent disappointments.
Last weekend they had lost 4-2 in Bochum and this week he tied 1-1 on his visit to Salzburg in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16, for which he had chained two games without a victory, something unusual in a team accustomed to chaining one triumphal walk after another.
In the table, Bayern is provisionally nine points ahead of the second, Borussia Dortmund, which hosts Borussia Mönchengladbach this Sunday (13th).
