Lawyers will deliver to the Chamber of Accounts evidence of operations that motivated investigation

The Bar Association of the Dominican Republic (CARD) prepares the files of 18 transactions carried out by the union that led to the realization of a special investigation by the Chamber of Accounts of the Dominican Republic, appear to be delivered to that inspection body.

Miguel Surun Hernández, president of CARD, reported that “despite the fact that the Chamber of Accounts does not have the power to audit the union, but only to supervise, advise and carry out a management evaluation, we are going to give you all the details of 18 operations mentioned in the official instance that was delivered to us during the amparo action held last Friday, with the aim of clearing up doubts and so that both they and the country can verify that the RD Bar Association acts with transparency, neatness, attached to existing law and regulations ”.

The jurist emphasized that “in the current management of CARD, it has nothing to fear, it applies solid accounting controls and efficient management of the limited funds that enter the institution, with management of resources in accordance with Law 340-06, to despite not managing public resources “.

He stressed that all financial reports and processes are published monthly on the institutional page of the College, with the objective that lawyers, lawyers and the general population know in what the resources of this private institution are invested.

Surun Hernández also reported that the Board of Directors is and will always be open to conducting audits, but that they are carried out by the Accounts Prosecutor and by a private auditing firm, as established in article 83 of Law 3- 19 of the guild.

In that order, he announced that the Board of Directors of CARD authorized the start of the process to carry out a financial audit of the Bar Association of the Dominican Republic corresponding to the last fiscal period, for which they will carry out a tender for the election of an auditing firm private.

The union requested the participation of the Chamber of Accounts, the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic, the General Directorate of Public Procurement and Contracting, the College of Public Accountants, the Institutionality and Justice Foundation (FINJUS) and Citizen Participation to audit the process. and confirm the transparency and openness with which the union’s non-state resources are handled.
