A 38-year-old lawyer was sentenced to 35 years in effective prison after being found responsible for the crime against sexual indemnity against a 7-year-old child, in a case that occurred in San Agustín de Cajas in October 2023. The sentence was handed down by the First Supraprovincial Transitory Collegiate Criminal Court of Huancayo, after the Public Ministry presented evidence that supported the responsibility of the accused.

The Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that the person under investigation, a close relative of the minor, tried to take advantage of a moment when other adults had momentarily left the property. The behavior was revealed by the child himself hours later, which allowed the mother to report the incident to the district police station.

Despite the conviction, the convicted person remains free while the notification is formalized and the resolution is approved. In addition, the referee established S/ 10,000 as civil compensation in favor of the victim.
