The lawyer of María Luisa Ventura Garrido (Mary Louise), Cirilo de Jesus Guzmanreported this Thursday that his client was assaulted today, Thursday, July 21, by another inmate, in the correctional center of Najayo Women where he is kept in pre-trial detention.
According to a press release sent by Ventura’s defense, Mary Louise was assaulted and injured by a Spanish recluse, in a confusing incident.
His lawyer maintains that “the life of his client, who is 65 years old, is in danger in prison.”
He said that of the investigating judge Sudelgi Rosario Mena “having valued in its fair dimension each one of the budgets of roots presented in the last mandatory review hearing, “in good right”, his client could have been in house arrest or with a locator, but safe, indicates the document.
He specified that the inmate tried again to attack Mary Louise.
The lawyer, who was the Public Prosecutor of the National District, also said that the integrity of the life of Mary Louise Venturato whom “keeping her in preventive detention constitutes an early sentence and a true case of no legal security.”
Ventura Garrido faces homicide charges to the detriment of Patricia Ascuasiati Domínguez, a fact that received the legal classification of violation of articles 295 and 304 of the Dominican Penal Code.
Ascuasiati Domínguez died in a health center in Santo Domingo several days after she was run over by the accused, around 4:00 in the afternoon of February 15, in the vicinity of kilometer 40 of the Duarte Highway, Villa municipality Altagracia, in a north-south direction.
