The entry into force of Law 2198 of January 25, 2022 brings with it a series of changes for transportation. On the one hand, the regulation of the useful life of the district, municipal and mixed transport, when its optimal time of use has culminated between March 12, 2020 and the enactment of this law.

However, the president of the Intermunicipal Passenger Transport Association (Aditt), José Yesid Rodríguez, assured that “in the long term, it may imply a significant delay in the replacement of vehicles, at a time when it is necessary to migrate to clean technologies.” For this reason, he requested government support and other measures that allow the replacement of the equipment.
According to the Ministry of Transportation, of 24,924 active vehicles in this modality, 24,562 vehicles registered in the country benefit.
Users will also be able to count on mobility benefits. The law establishes that as a result of the new mega works in the country, intermunicipal service companies will be able to use them to shorten travel times and generate some savings in destinations already authorized by other routes.

The law also provides relief for the owners of mixed vehicles, and cooperative and solidarity organizations in this industry, for example, may use the resources of the replacement fund, that is, they can request all of their contributions to the replacement funds, in order to have a minimum income due to the economic impact caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
