This Tuesday in the Venezuelan parliament, the First Discussion of the Draft Law on the Order of the Grand Cacique Guaicaipuro was approved in the first discussion.
Nicia Maldonado and recalled that the Day of Indigenous Resistance will soon be celebrated, regarding the resistance of indigenous peoples to regional looting.
«It was not easy for them because they found a pubelus in resistance and one of them was the Cacique Guaicaipuro who preferred to fight for his people against the Spanish invaders,” he said.
He stressed that Guaicaipuro is the greatest symbol of indigenous resistance, “it means the greatest heroism of the resistance of the peoples and you are more alive than ever,” he said.
“That is why this legislative body intends to rescue and highlight its historical legacy who in times of exclusion wanted to erase their memory,” he said while stressing that this can only be done in Revolution, that is why we want to create the Order of the Great Cacique Guaicaipuro with this Law composed of three classes.
For her part, the deputy, Carmen Zerpa, explained that Cacique Guaicaipuro is an icon of the city of Caracas.
