Law of 100% deduction of VAT in supermarkets is sanctioned

In regular session of the Senate The initial sanction agreed upon was given to the bill “That modifies articles 88 and 89 of Law No. 6,380/2019 ‘Modernization and Simplification of the National Tax System”.

The regulations seek that taxpayers of the Value Added Tax (VAT) Credit of Personal and Professional Services, can introduce, in their respective liquidations, invoices referring to items of food, personal hygiene, home maintenance, taxpayer medications for their use. and that of his family, among others.

It should be remembered that the Chamber of Deputies proposes 100% VAT deductibility on purchases in supermarkets, which would benefit some 600 thousand people, allowing them to invest that money in savings or investments; while the modifications of the Chamber of Senators cap that deductibility at 30%.

Finally the Senate did not meet the absolute majority (23 votes), for the ratification of its initial sanction. The text of the Chamber of Deputies was sanctioned and is sent to the Executive Power, for its veto or promulgation.
