Law enforcement forces destroy illegal plant in Pataz during Operation “Hammer No. 1”

He Northern Operational Commandthrough the Pataz Unified Commandexecuted the Operation “Hammer No. 1” in the Pueblo Nuevo annex, province of Pataz, as part of the actions against illegal economies in the region. The operation was carried out by special operators of the Joint Task Force and specialized personnel of the National Police of Peru (PNP).

According to Andina, the intervention was attended by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in Environmental Mattersas well as representatives of the Ministry of Energy and Mines – La Libertad and of the Sucamecwho verified the existence of a benefit plant (crusher) without registration in REINFO or enabling documentation.

Destruction of machinery valued at S/540 thousand

In compliance with current regulations, law enforcement officers carried out the interdiction and destruction of machinery and equipment used for illegal mining, reaching a total value of S/ 540,150.

The head of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces, Army General David Ojeda Parrahighlighted the impact of these actions:

“In Pataz, the presence of the State remains firm. During this State of Emergency we carried out operations that exceed 246 million soles in losses for these illegal economies,” he noted.

He added that the coordinated work between the Joint Special Force, the PNP, the Prosecutor’s Office, Sunat, Sucamec and other entities allows for intensifying interventions:

“With timely intelligence we reaffirm our commitment to security, legality and the defense of the rule of law, acting with transparency, firmness and respect for Human Rights.”

Assets destroyed in the operation

  • 01 crusher – S/ 120,000
  • 03 conveyor belts – S/ 30,000
  • 720 bags of polymetallic material – S/ 222,000
  • 09 IBC tanks – S/ 54,000
  • 10 air compressors – S/ 30,000
  • electrical equipmentscales, generators, industrial kitchens, welders, water pumps and minor tools.

Operations within the framework of the State of Emergency

The interventions are developed under the DS 060-2025-PCM and its extension through the DS 077-2025-PCMwhich empower the Armed forces to assume control of internal order in Pataz through a Unified Command to combat organized crime and illicit economies.

Operation Hammer is part of the “decisive points” of the military strategic design for Pataz in the context of the State of Emergency.

Law enforcement agencies announced that will continue to execute integrated operations to consolidate territorial control, reduce illegal mining and protect the population from criminal organizations that affect the peace and development of the province.
