Lavalleja: reservoir had a decrease and OSE asks to reduce water consumption

SBI released this Tuesday a new statement addressed to the population of the city of Minas in which it again warns about the water deficit facing the area.

Faced with this situation, the agency reiterated the importance of “avoid consuming drinking water for non-essential uses”, and exhorts the population to “take any other measure tending to reduce their consumption.” According to the statement, “such a measure would add to the objective of maintaining the service” while the current scenario of water deficit persists.

The authorities and OSE continue to work on the implementation of long-term solutions to address the water deficit in the Minas area. They urge the community to stay informed and actively collaborate in the conservation of this vital resource.with the aim of “guaranteeing the well-being of all the inhabitants of the city and preserving the environmental balance”.

It is essential that each individual assumes the responsibility of “caring for and preserving water”, since, as mentioned in the statement, “this would add to the objective of maintaining the service.” Only through collective commitment will it be possible to overcome this challenge and “ensure an adequate supply of water” for the daily and future needs of the city of Minas.

The problem of the San Francisco creek reservoir

According to the statement, “reserves in the San Francisco stream reservoir remain stable” thanks to the measures implemented in the Mining Supply System and in the reservoir basin. Until now, “The demand for drinking water in the city of Minas continues to this day being met locally.”

However, an intervention was recently carried out in the water intake of the Arroyo San Francisco reservoir to ensure its operability. This intervention affected the supply in some areas of the city on Friday, generating “turbidity events in some of the areas” on Saturday, which were resolved by purging the distribution network.

Regarding the rainfall recorded in the reservoir basin, it is reported that “the aforementioned reservoir registered a slight decrease of 15 centimeters, reaching a level of -4.44 today”, despite having recorded rainfall of approximately 10 to 11 millimeters.
