Laura Villamil, the dancer who suffered a serious accident in the middle of a show at the renowned Andrés Carne de Res restaurant in Chía, Cundinamarca, occurred on August 17 and since then has remained hospitalized in a medical center in the country’s capital.
A new medical report on Laura’s health was recently released. Santiago Villamil, the artist’s brother, told El Tiempo positive and encouraging details for the family: she had woken up and regained consciousness.

The young man said that the doctors had decided to reduce the sedation, but that the dancer’s reaction was not the best. Apparently, she was hallucinating after what happened in the restaurant. “We thought she was hallucinating and that she was stuck in that episode where she was on fire… she was moving a lot, her heart rate and temperature increased,” he told the aforementioned media outlet.
Laura Villamil’s health status is encouraging
The family’s hopes are still bright. According to Santiago, the young woman has regained consciousness and her reaction was encouraging: “She is calm, she is listening, she is opening her eyes. She has had a very gratifying evolution. She can even speak.”
In the first conversations with the artist, they have talked about completely different topics than the accident, since they have not yet decided to discuss that topic with her, and that she will have “psychological support from a psychiatrist,” said the brother.
For now, Laura will remain awake without being sedated under medical observation, and her wounds will be treated with medication while awaiting positive developments.
