The director of the Manzana 1 Art Space, Ejti Stih, summoned all nature lovers to participate in the first photo contest “Nature, Society and Climate”. Through the snapshots we search reflect the impact of climate change and the positive actions undertaken to restore environmental sustainability.

The contest is supported by Contemporary Bolivian Arts Trust – CBAT (England) and the Noel Kempff Mercado Foundation (Bolivia).

All can participate people over 18 years old, both professional photographers and amateur photography lovers. The contest has three categories: individual, series photos and free format. The winner of each category will receive a prize of Bs 10,000.

They are looking for “the best possible documents on what is happening in Bolivia, not only in the east,” Stih explained. In addition to the categories indicated, there is a special prize for the sub 22 category. In this case, a video camera will be delivered to the winner.

the themes for the contest encompass positive environmental actionscauses that contribute to the increase of climatic phenomena and the climatic consequences and its impact on Bolivian society.

The director of Manzana Uno pointed out that the best works will be exhibited in the open space of the art gallery.

An alliance with the British Museum allows the incorporation of a pspecial project “Voices of the Bolivian Chaco” thanks to the extension of a program that already works in Argentina and Paraguay. This award is sponsored by the Santo Domingo Center of Excellence for Research on Latin America of the British Museum (SDCELAR) And it is exclusive for natives of the Bolivian Chaco.

The organizers of the contest emphasize that this category seeks to privilege the self-representation of the Bolivian Chaco. Beyond the photographic quality that is pursued in a contest of these characteristics, cell phones without a specific resolution or pixel quality standard can be used in the “Voces del Chaco Boliviano” award. Collectives, groups or a single person can participate in this special project.

The award intended for this project amounts to an approximate of Bs 21,000, earmarked for field work or research coordinated with the prestigious SDCELAR institution.

The call for the contest can be reviewed on the Facebook page of Manzana 1 espacio de arte or request it by calling 76003552. The reception of works extends until June 30, 2022 and the award ceremony will be held on July 30, 2022.
