The Ambassadors and Heads of Mission of the countries that make up the Group of Latin America and the Caribbean (GRULAC), accredited in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, held a meeting in Caracas on Thursday to reactivate this regional mechanism for dialogue, agreement and exchange.
The meeting, held at the Antonio José de Sucre Yellow House, was headed by the Vice Minister for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, Rander Peña, and the coordinator of GRULAC and ambassador of Argentina in Venezuela, Oscar Laborde, refers a note MPPRE press release.
During the meeting, the diplomats addressed the revitalization of the Group, after having lost activity due to political circumstances, in addition to the COVID-19 pandemic. They also agreed on a joint coordination between Argentina, Mexico and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
“We have proposed a joint effort to strengthen ties between us and unify relations with the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry,” said Ambassador Laborde.
As host, Vice Minister Peña extolled the new moment of relations that Latin America and the Caribbean are experiencing, for which he highlighted the relevance of being able to talk about the dissimilar positions of each country.
“To the extent that we can have spaces so that politics can prevail, for dialogue, meeting, reflection and the exchange of experiences, it will be fine,” said the Bolivarian Vice Minister, urging the diplomats present to build a constructive work schedule.
He highlighted the potentialities of Venezuela that are available to consolidate regional economic integration. “Our country has elements that can make it easier for each of us in our daily lives”, such as the energy field.
The Vice Minister for Latin America and the Caribbean, on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro and Foreign Minister Carlos Faría, ratified that all ambassadors have the doors of the diplomatic institution open “to make our countries win.”
