The quarterfinals of the Women’s Copa Libertadores 2022, which is played in Quito, await their last two members this Wednesday and Thursday with the dispute of the third and last day of the group stage.
In the quarterfinals, the University of Chile, the Colombians Deportivo Cali and América de Cali, the Argentine Boca Juniors and the Brazilians Palmeiras and Ferroviária, who on the last date will play if they go to the quarterfinals as first or second in group .
The two quotas that remain to be decided are in Group A, between the defending champion Corinthians and Olimpia; and in Group D, where the Chilean Santiago Morning, Alianza Lima and Venezuelan Deportivo Lara still have options to qualify.
In Group A., Corinthians and Olimpia are equal to three points in second and third place, respectively, so the Brazilians use the tie to go through to the quarterfinals since they have a better goal difference than those fringed, who are bound to win.
The fight is more open in Group D, where Santiago Morning is second with 3 points, which gives it a better chance of qualifying. Even with a loss, they would go to the quarterfinals if Alianza Lima does not beat América de Cali.
The Chileans will face Deportivo Lara, which is virtually eliminated unless they win by a difference of nine goals and Alianza does not win by more than one goal difference against the ‘Diablas Rojas’. For their part, the Peruvians are obliged to beat América de Cali and hope that Deportivo Lara defeats Santiago Morning.
With nothing at stake on this last day beyond not finishing last in the group or leaving empty with zero points, the Bolivian Always Ready, the Ecuadorians Ñañas and Independiente del Valle, the Uruguayan Defensor Sporting and the Paraguayan Libertad Limpeño will go out to play. EFE
