The President of the Republic reacted to the filing by the Assembly of the investment bill. He called the legislators “thieves and corrupt.”
President William Lasso denounced this March 24, 2022, in a video, that the project of investment law did not obtain the necessary votes this Thursday to be approved by National Assembly because the Government did not accept the requests that legislators would have made.
“I want to tell all of Ecuador that this law has been denied because we have not accepted the assembly members blackmail, who come to ask for hospitals, electricity companies, ministries in exchange for their vote». And he called lawmakers “thieves and corrupt«.
The President added “that the last straw is the case of assemblymen who have come to ask cash to the government”. He also mentioned the case of alleged tax evaders who had tried to sell support to the investment lawin exchange for not being taxed.
