Santo Domingo Norte.– The LASO Foundation, through its Animal Defense Council, denounced this Wednesday the deliberate poisoning of several dogs in the Máximo Gómez Urbanization, in Villa Mella, a fact that remained recorded on security cameras and that has generated deep indignation in the community.
The event was recorded on video
The attack occurred at 6:44 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11when a man identified as Marino Castroresident on the same street Bernabé Boza (House No. 18), was caught throwing a paper with food mixed with poison towards the sidewalk of the gate of the house marked with the number 13A.
In that place there was a community dogfed by a neighbor of the affected family.
The images show Mr. Castro walking in front of the house and throwing the contaminated materialwhich was later consumed by animals. In the video you can see how the dogs they begin to convulse and agonize minutes later.

The dog’s handler burst into tears when he found the animals suffering, a scene that was also recorded.
LASO Foundation describes the event as “unacceptable barbarism”
Lorenny Solano, president of the LASO Foundation, described the event as “an unacceptable barbarity” and recalled that the Law 248-12 on Animal Protection and Responsible Ownership criminalizes mistreatment and cruelty against animals.
“The images are heartbreaking and outrageous. We cannot allow acts of this cruelty to go unpunished. The Animal Defense Council will take on the case and bring the person responsible to justice with the full weight of the law,” said Solano.
Legal team prepares file to subdue the aggressor
The LASO Foundation legal team, made up of Amarilys Durán Salas, José Ariza, Yulibelys Wandelpool and Jean Cristofer Pérezthe documentation of the case has already begun.
The file will include:
- Videos from security cameras
- Photographs of the moment the toxic substance is thrown
- Evidence of affected animals
- Testimonials from family and neighbors
- Veterinary reports
The organization emphasized that these types of actions not only violate the law, but also put the entire community at risksince the use of toxic substances in a public space can affect other animals, children, older adults or any passerby.
Call to the authorities and citizens
LASO Foundation asked the authorities to act firmly and urged the population to report any act of animal cruelty.
“Every life counts, and every act of abuse must be faced. Today more than ever we must unite to demand justice and guarantee that events like this do not happen again,” Solano added.
The case will be deposited in the Santo Domingo Norte prosecutor’s office in the next few hours.
