The airlines invite affected passengers to contact the company or their travel agency directly “to manage the details of their new flight.”

The Venezuelan airlines Laser and Estelar announced that their flights between Caracas and Madrid will be suspended until December 1.

The companies indicated that the rescheduling of the flights “will be informed in a timely manner once the NOTAM date expires”, in reference to the notices from the Spanish Aeronautical Authority (AESA).

The airlines invite affected passengers to contact the company or their travel agency directly “to manage the details of their new flight.”

Enaire, a Spanish public company that is assigned to manage air navigation, published, at the request of AESA, a notice in which it recommends that Spanish civil air operators not carry out any flights in the airspace within the Maiquetía FIR (SVZM), which covers the entire Venezuelan territory and extends to the Caribbean Sea.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) denounced that the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC) of Venezuela gave airlines a period of 48 hours to resume their operations, otherwise their traffic rights would be suspended.

Through a statement, IATA indicated that the suspensions are temporary measures that have been adopted after “rigorous risk analysis” that allow the safety of passengers, crews and aircraft to be guaranteed.

“IATA member airlines remain committed to restoring operations to and from Venezuela as soon as conditions permit and reiterate their willingness to maintain open channels of communication with the Venezuelan authorities, in order to coordinate actions that guarantee safety, connectivity and the protection of passenger rights, in strict compliance with current safety regulations,” the statement said.
