Large majority of Democrats say Biden could win re-election

OnCubaNews

71% of Democrats now say Biden could win re-election if he runs for another term in 2024, according to a new poll by usa today-Ipsos.

The share of Democratic voters who believe Biden can win the next presidential election has risen 11 points since August, when 60% expressed “some confidence” in the soon-to-be 80-year-old president. Half of Democratic voters in this poll think Biden “should be the nominee and deserves re-election,” 6 points more than in August.

The poll, released Sunday, indicated overall that Democrats feel better about Biden after posting stunning victories in major races across the country, fending off Trump-backed candidates in high-profile contests in states including Pennsylvania, Nevada and Arizona.

Democrats win majority in Senate

The party of a sitting president usually loses heavily in a midterm election. However, the Democrats bucked historical trends and managed to maintain a majority in the Senate. Republicans took control of the House, albeit by a much smaller margin than expected.

Voter perception that Biden can win in 2024 increased markedly among women (55% in August to 71% in November) and among voters 18-34 (53% in August to 69% in November).

The poll was implemented between November 15-16, 2022 with 843 Democratic voters. Its margin of error is estimated to be plus or minus 4.0 percentage points.
