A large fire broke out in the early hours of this Wednesday (3) in one of the pavilions of the Rio State Supply Center (Ceasa), the largest supply center in the state, which is located in Irajá, in the north of the capital of Rio de Janeiro.
According to the Military Fire Department of the State of Rio de Janeiro, there are no reports of injuries. The other pavilions are operating normally.
The corporation reported that around 80 military personnel from 15 operational units are mobilized in the event, with support from 31 vehicles, in addition to a drone equipped with a thermal camera, used to identify hot spots and guide the best strategies to combat the flames.
According to reports, the fire started in a food store and quickly spread to neighboring establishments that sell plastics, paper, drinks and other highly flammable materials.
In October 2022, a fire hit Ceasa. Images shared on social media showed looting of deposits, commotion and private security guards shooting into the air to try to contain the crowd. Four stores were damaged by the flames.
