Large companies transport their products by train in Colombia

The country’s railway infrastructure has been given the green light.

The National Government has strongly promoted the reactivation of railway lines in Colombia, in order to connect the different modes of freight transport, allowing for logistical efficiency and the generation of optimal conditions for the implementation of the operation.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the country has 3,533 kilometers of railway infrastructure, of which only 31% is in operation.

The reactivation project aims to reduce transportation costs in the country by approximately 26%.

Large companies move their cargo by train in Colombia

Companies have given the green light to using trains to transport their products. According to Valora Analitik, eight large companies use railways to transport their cargo to different areas of Colombia, such as the Federación Nacional de Cafeteros and Bavaria.

But they are not the only ones. Also on the list are Tiendas D1, Arcos Dorados, the largest independent McDonald’s franchisee, Grupo Familia, Alpina and agro-industry and fertilizer companies such as Agromil and NitroFert.

According to MinTransporte, more companies are expected to start using this means of transport in Colombia.
