Fernando Larach and Stello Cochamanidis were qualified as the only candidates for the presidency and vice-presidency of the Civic Committee for Santa Cruz. The The second vice presidency will be disputed by Leonardo Martinez Saucedo, Reinerio Vargas and Wilford Zurita.
Last Wednesday the primary elections in the Committee concluded. At this stage, the delegates who on february 11 next will decide, by vote, who will be the new president and the two vice presidents of the institution for the period 2023-2025.
The Civic Committee reported that of the 24 institutional sectors that make up the Assembly of La Cruceñidad, 17 of them proclaimed Fernando Larach as president; 15 did so in favor of Stello Cochamanidis as first vice president. For second vice president, seven sectors formalized their adherence to Wilfor Zurita, two to Reinerio Vargas and one to Leonardo Martínez.

The provincial proclamations for the second vice presidency were three: two for Wilford Zurita and one for Darling Méndez,” reads part of the statement issued by the same institution.
From the Civic Committee they indicated that for Vargas to be a candidate for the presidency, he should receive the support of all the sections of the province that proclaimed him, in addition to the support of the provincial president, in his case, eight votes. However, he only received four.
In total, for the position of President, Larach received 20 proclamations and one Vargas. Not all sectors or provinces are required to proclaim. A single proclamation allows an applicant to become a pre-candidate, provided they meet the requirements established in the Committee’s statutes and the corresponding electoral regulations.
At this stage, six regular delegates and six substitutes for each institutional sector were also elected, with access to voice and vote in the Assembly of La Cruceñidad.
Likewise, a director for each sector; the directors make up the new civic directory. In addition to the recently elected delegates and directors, former presidents, the president of the Association of Provincial Civic Committees of Cruceñidad, the Association of Provincial Women’s Civic Committees, the Civic Committees of each province of Santa Cruz, the Women’s Civic Committees also have the right to vote. of each province of Santa Cruz, the Civic Committees of each section of Santa Cruz province and the subcommittees of the citadels: Andrés Ibáñez, Villa Primera de Mayo and Pampa de la Isla.
