LAP: More than 60,000 air travelers were affected by riots

From December 12 to date, a total of 60,487 passengers have been affected by the suspension of air flights due to strong demonstrations in various regions of the country.

This was announced by Pamela Moreno, Operations Manager of Lima Airport Partners (LAP), concessionaire of the Jorge Chávez International Airport.

“Between December 12 and 18, it is estimated that the trips of approximately 59 thousand passengers were interrupted. In total, the passengers affected are 60,487, approximately between December 12 and 19,” the representative of LAP told this newspaper.

Along the same lines, he mentioned that, between December 12 and 19, a total of 620 flights to and from Juliaca (Puno), Ayacucho, Trujillo, Arequipa and Cusco were suspended.

Although the Armed Forces have regained control of the air terminals, Moreno pointed out that the Ayacucho, Juliaca and Andahuaylas airports have not yet restarted their operations.

“To this day, flights to and from Cusco and Arequipa have already been reactivated. We remain attentive to the situation of the airports of Ayacucho, Juliaca and Andahuaylas”, noted

The Arequipa air terminal, he explained, is operational, with partial restriction, between 06:00 am and 5:30 pm, which generates changes in the flow of six daily operations. Outside of these hours, there are four LATAM flights and two SKY flights in operation.

Finally, he indicated that, for security reasons due to the national situation, entry to the terminal has been restricted for only passengers with their boarding ticket, with the exception of travelers who require assistance.

Family members are not allowed to pick up passengers. And, at the vehicular entrance, only the driver of the vehicle can enter with the passengers, without companions.
