Landslides cut off traffic on the highway to Cochabamba

The heavy rains caused slides that interrupted traffic on the Santa Cruz-Cochabamba highway, at the height of Siete Curvas.

Videos spread on social networks show passengers collaborating in the removal of stones that block the road, where a gap has also formed.

The Bolivian Highway Administrator (ABC) has already mobilized heavy machinery and specialized personnel to rehabilitate the road and restore vehicular circulation.

Regarding the impact of the rains, the Vice Minister of Civil Defense, Juan Carlos Calvimontes, explained that so far there have been damage in seven departments12 municipalities and 19 communities. The preliminary balance includes 200 affected and damaged familiesas well as five deceased people, including the girl in the municipality of La Paz.
