The Social Health Insurance (EsSalud) ordered the transfer of medical brigades to the district of Chavín de Huántar, in Áncash, to provide medical care to the population affected by the rock and stone slide that occurred on a hill located in the Cruz sector of Shallapa.
This morning a team from Hospital Peru, made up of doctors, nurses and health technicians, with the support of 3 mobile units, arrived in the town of Cerro Azul de Shallapa, disaster area, to care for 57 affected families.
After reporting the emergency, the Huari Center of the Huaraz Assistance Network moved an ambulance and a health brigade with specialists to help the affected population to the same place.
The EsSalud advance team brought medicines, mattresses, blankets, clothing, non-perishable food and provided first aid to the injured in the area of the collapse.
In the Chavín de Huántar operations center, EsSalud erected a tent, where to children, adults and older adults who have any ailment or health problem as a result of the collapse.
Actions
The director of the Huaraz Assistance Network, Dr. Luis Rosales Pereda, indicated that the seriously injured – whose number has not been revealed – will be transferred to Hospital II Huaraz, where they will be constantly monitored for their speedy recovery.
“It has been arranged that all the nearest health establishments are on alert and prepared to attend in a timely manner to the injured and people affected by the natural event”he indicated.
According to the Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (EDAN) that local authorities have been carrying out, so far 70 uninhabitable homes have been reported, 150 people affected, in addition to 1 person injured by suffocation; Likewise, the affectation of 5% of the electric power network was registered.
