The Vice Minister of Territorial Planning and Regional Development of the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development, Domingo Matías, affirmed that the application of the Law 368-22 of Land ManagementLand Use and Human Settlements, will generate better public policies for economic growth and development in Santo Domingo West.
“The more orderly the territory is, the more public security policies are created for the benefit of all the inhabitants,” said Matías.
He added that Santo Domingo Oeste is one of the municipalities with the greatest urban expansion in the last 20 years, with a growth in the anthropic footprint of 48 percent and one of the first with industrial enclaves, which reflects the need to implement the regulation that establishes the regulatory framework to help consolidate its socioeconomic development.

In his conference on “Challenges of the Territorial Planning Law in Santo Domingo Oeste”, Matías highlighted the importance of vigilance of Dominican society in the implementation of the law, through the empowerment of society and the joint effort that involves the Central government, local governments, civil society, the productive sectors, among other actors.
He specified that the law establishes the classification of soils in urban, buildable and non-buildableand in this aspect local governments play a fundamental role.
He added that it is important that the inhabitants can know how the soils are going to be classified.
