Lambayeque: Residents of an isolated hamlet are rescued but more families are waiting for help

Serenazgo personnel and Army agents rescued residents of the Mórrope district, including a newborn and his mother, who had been isolated in the Angolo I hamlet, after the overflow of the La Leche river.

The agents formed a human cordon to carry out the rescue work by swimming, pushing the victims with floats, previously tied with ropes. The baby was taken out in a laundry tub, which prompted applause from those present.

Moments later, in the district fence, Mayor Janet Morales Pasache received the mothers and their minor children, who, in tears, asked for an airlift to rescue their other relatives and neighbors who are still trapped in the area. .

“More people are missing, my mother and another lady who is going to give birth. She couldn’t get out because she was afraid that the water would hit her belly. My husband and my brothers are still there,” the women said between sobs.

But not only the families of the Angolo I farmhouse are waiting for help, but also in the San Miguel annex of the Monte Hermoso farmhouse. The veterinarian Santos Piscoya arrived there and described the moment that the residents are going through.

“The situation is chaotic and very sad because many families have lost everything. Some people tried to recover some of their personal belongings to get out to safe places; You could see mothers and children crying, ”she said.

He specified that in said area, as in the San Isidro de Caracucho annex, the population still awaits the help of the authorities.

“Then we headed back through the San Isidro de Caracucho annex, where the water had flooded all the houses and it was not possible to cross the river, so we had to swim out to get to the Caracucho farmhouse, the water hit us in the chest approximately 1.50 meters”, he specified.

In addition, he indicated that during his journey he was able to verify that the El Pescador annex suffers the same fate, due to the fact that the water flow continues to increase.

Finally, he said that in addition to the aforementioned areas, the hamlets also hard hit in Morrope are: Angolo I, Chochor, Monte Hermoso, Monte Verde, Sequiones, Hornitos, Santa Isabel and Cruce Morales.
