“The central area of Mexico City is the one that has historically had a denser transportation network, but precisely from this administration on, the effort was made to cover the periphery of the city,” said Lajous.
The Secretary of Mobility pointed out that at the beginning of the Sheinbaum Government, they found a fragmented and inequitable public transport.
“We work to improve it. Today we have an integrated transportation network,” she said.
The current authorities carried out “the implementation of the single Integrated Mobility Card; the eradication of fraud in recharge systems; payment with a mobility card in RTP, Trolebús and Cablebús; the inclusion of the concession transport to the payment with mobility card; the implementation of the card recharge network in 2,498 stores and more than 2 million recharges through cell phones; in addition to the homologation of image and graphic identity”, he detailed.
The capital official highlighted the construction of the Cablebús lines, transportation that did not exist in Mexico City before the current administration.
“Between 2019 and 2021, Line 1 from Indios Verdes to Cuautepec and Line 2 from Constitución from 1917 to Santa Marta were built, which benefit 132,000 users daily,” he said.
“There have been no incidents of theft at the stations. Places in station environments are more vibrant, even at night, which was not the case,” she opined.
Lajous reported that in 2022 the tender for Line 3 was prepared, which will go from Los Pinos to Vasco de Quiroga.
Among the achievements in terms of mobility, the official also highlighted the expansion and recovery of Trolleybus lines.
“In the case of the Light Rail, the tracks were renovated to serve more passengers. There are 100 thousand beneficiaries daily”, he said.
In the Metro Collective Transport System (STC), the Metro-Energy project and the galleries for the high-voltage electrical substation and the works for the new electrical system of lines 1, 2 and 3 stood out; the modernization and replacement of 46 electromechanical escalators on lines 3, 4, 7, 8 and 9; the modernization of the toll system on all lines, and the new central control post on lines 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.
The official recalled the modernization process that is being carried out on Line 1 of the Metro, the oldest. He also pointed out that progress is being made in the Line 12 rehabilitation program.
In this Government, he said, 202 kilometers of cycling infrastructure have been built, since bicycles are an angular part of the objectives they have.
