It is the crisis of education.
There are plenty of indicators that suggest that in Mexico children do not learn as they should and, therefore, do not find the doors they need to avoid tragic fates.
It is difficult to imagine a greater priority for this government, which carries the banner of the protection of those who have less as its main banner. That is why it is so unfortunate and surprising that the president of Mexico has chosen, once again, to grant the most important position in the management of public education in Mexico not to a specialist but to a political operator.
If there is an encomienda that deserves to be away from the political tide, that is the direction of the SEP.
It goes without saying that Andrés Manuel López Obrador is not the first president to use that position as a political lever.
It is not the first that degrades it by granting it to a political operator, well. But this case is more serious, and for no other reason than the mission of moral regeneration that the president himself has promised ad nauseam. There is no such renewal without a generous, universal and quality education.
