The president of the Congress, Lady Camones, justified the decision that the plenary took against allowing the trip of peter castle to Colombia for the transfer of command of Gustavo Petro as the new president of said country.
“We cannot allow the president, in the midst of a ministerial crisis, to go on a trip that is purely protocol when he can easily delegate that function to the vice-presidency or the chancellor”declared at a press conference.
The plenary session of the Congress of the Republic refused to authorize President Pedro Castillo to travel to the city of Bogotá, Colombia, to participate in the presidential change of command that will take place on August 7 so that Gustavo Petro assumes the mandate.
With 42 votes in favor, 67 against and 5 abstentions, the national representation rejected the draft legislative resolution sent by the Executive Power for the authorization of the president’s trip.
“Today we need the presence of the president here so that the Cabinet can reconcile itself to the resignation of the premier. It is important to have it here. The problems of Peru, we need the president to assume them as such and resolve them as such”he asserted.
Previously, Pedro Castillo informed the Colombian authorities that he will not be able to travel to the inauguration ceremony of the country’s elected president, Gustavo Petro.
“The decision of the Congress of the Republic is not consistent, in any way, with the very high value that my Government assigns to the historic relations of friendship, cooperation and desire for integration that unite our countries,” he said in his letter to Duque.

Lady Camones declared before the press after meeting with the Nation’s prosecutor, Patricia Benavides, who explained the problems that the Public Ministry has and also promised to send to Parliament any corroboration that there is in the investigation against legislators unionized as “Los Kids”.
“It has been promised that when it has results of the corroboration of the statements that the effective collaborators have been giving, it will inform us so that, as Congress, we take the actions of political control or impeachment,” he warned.
