The president of the Parliament, Lady Camones Soriano, assured that the audio in which César Acuña Peralta requests to accelerate, from the Legislative, the creation of the Alto Trujillo district in the La Libertad region, has been distorted.
Camones also stated that it is the leader of the Alianza Para el Progreso who must respond to his declarations of wanting to favor himself in the face of the 2022 Regional and Municipal Elections.
“I answer for the facts that involve me as president of Congress. That is what I regret. In other words, selling me as if I were a puppet of César Acuña, there is no such thing. I have come to work (at the Board of Directors) because a majority group in Congress has placed their trust in me to represent all the benches,” said the legislator in the Sunday “Panorama.”
In addition, the parliamentarian asserted that, if there is a criminal organization, as Prime Minister Aníbal Torres said, “it is somewhere else, not in Congress.” Similarly, Camones was willing to be investigated if she has committed any crime.
“If it is that I have committed a crime, let the prosecutor say so. I do not consider that I have committed influence peddling or any crime because there is no action of mine that has corroborated any request that I have made in that audio, “added the legislator.
On the other hand, the congresswoman for Alianza Para el Progreso indicated that she would agree to an early election if electoral reforms that can prevent future political crises are achieved first.
“Advance elections, yes, but prior electoral reforms, because one cannot (be) so irresponsible, as I say in the audio, of giving the country a Congress that, each time, is worse than the other. Today I make a self-criticism to Congress. There are very few congressmen who are committed to working for the country,” said the president of the Legislative.
