Lack of urea affected more than 60% of farmers

A few days ago, Agro Rural reported that it will no longer continue with the purchase of to the Paraguayan company Direcagro, despite the fact that it was the fourth acquisition attempt. The former Minister of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, Milton Von Hesse, assured that the shortage of this fertilizer affected the production of various foods and that approximately 6 out of 10 will see their productivity affected.

“More than 60% of farmers who had to sow have already done so. For the majority, the purchase is irrelevant because they sowed with less fertilizers or with alternatives, and surely that will affect productivity, that is, the yield per hectare, ”he added to this newspaper.

The former official questioned that during the administration of Pedro Castillo the acquisition of urea had been tainted by complaints of irregularities and observations by the Comptroller’s Office. “The whole process was poorly done from the first contest. There were irregularities, denunciations of bribes with officials linked to the Castillo government who had a tainted record, ”he said.
