Although the operation of the New solar parks It goes well, according to the authorities, its contribution is not yet reached to eliminate the blackouts, even at the daytime schedule.
This Sunday, for example, the eight parks of 21.8 MW already installed produced 940 MWh throughout the day, but still the power cuts by generation deficit extended from dawn to 1:22 in the morning, according to Electric union (UNE).
And at 7:00 this morning the affectation was 387 MW, which must reach 700 MW at noon, according to the official estimate.
The above reveals the weight that these new parks have for now in the total generation, in contrast to what ceases to be generated by the breaks and limitations of thermal units and also due to the lack of fuel.
For this last reason, for example, this Monday is paralyzed 91 distributed generation plants, which represents 659 MW less to face demand. Yesterday there had been 82 the centrals without operating, so their number increased almost 10 with the start of the week.
In addition, another 79 MW are unavailable due to lack of lubricants and 411 MW will not be generated by thermal limitations, so the sum of these effects exceeds 1000 MW. On the other hand, the added power of the eight new parks only arrives – in ideal conditions – up to 174 MW, a substantially lower figure.
As if that were not enough, neither of the five thermal units that are currently outside the system due to breakdowns or maintenance should be incorporated throughout the day.
Nor will MW be added in the distributed generation, although for the night peak the UNE awaits the completion of Unit 1 of Varadero Energas, which must provide 20 MW more at the time that the maximum demand concentrates.
By then, if an unforeseen exit does not occur due to any breakdown or other cause, the generation will reach up to 1838 MW against a demand that will exceed 3200 MW, according to official estimates. With this, the maximum expected affectation will rise to that time until 1482 MW.
In this way, this Monday the blackouts will be extended again throughout the day and night in much of the island, even though the solar parks behave at their average generation rate.
The cuts must simultaneously reach more than 40 % of the country at the peak schedule, and the rhythm of demand and generation capacity will depend its extension in the next early morning.
