The congresswoman of the Popular Democratic Bloc, Susel Paredesspoke about the complaint made by the Contracorriente program, which revealed that 132.7 tons of canned goods produced by the company Esmeralda Corp SAC were sold to the extinct program Qali Warma in 2024.
The congresswoman admitted that his wife, Gracia María Francisca Aljovín de Losada, is a minority shareholder in the company, and assured that it is a “family business.”
As recalled, Susel Paredes married Gracia Aljovín de Losada in August 2016 in Miami, United States. However, their union is not recognized by Peruvian legislation.
When asked about this topic, the congresswoman responded ironically. “Now it turns out that same-sex marriage is valid in Peru,” he said on Canal N.
The legislator, who is usually relentless in accusations of corruption or ethical misconduct by her parliamentary and government colleagues, sought to victimize herself and assured that “they are using her as a smoke bomb to cover up the most important thing, which is the president, the Midis minister.” and the presidential spokesperson, Fredy Hinojosa.
Paredes indicated that he met his wife in 2003, but indicated that he did not ask her about her ties to the State. “The truth is that at the beginning I didn’t ask him those things,” he said.
However, he not only acknowledged that “for years” he knew that Aljovín de Losada is a shareholder in Esmeralda Corp Sac, and also detailed that “in some judicial processes he advises the company.”
Legal violation?
Law 30225 establishes in its article 11 that “the spouse, cohabitant or relatives up to the second degree of consanguinity or affinity of the persons indicated in the preceding paragraphs (president, vice presidents and congressmen…)”.
However, the parliamentarian’s marriage is not recognized by Peruvian legislation, which may make it difficult to establish criminal liability. However, being a congressman of the Republic, the case would reveal an ethical breach.
Ethics Commission would see your case
The president of the Congressional Ethics Commission, Alex Paredes, assured that in the first or second week of February the cases of congressmen José Jeri (Rape complaint) and Enrique Alva (Sada Goray Case) will be heard.
When consulted by Peru21 If the case of Congresswoman Susel Paredes would be observed, the head of the commission indicated that “those who are appearing and deserve to be on the agenda” will be seen.
