In the last hours, the Executive issued a resolution ordering the intervention of the mutual society Casa de Galicia with the displacement of its authorities for a period of up to one year, as a result of the collective health care institution presenting significant imbalances in its normal operation.
President Lacalle Pou explained that for months the Public Health authorities have been informing him about the economic situation of Casa de Galicia, and the age of the affiliates. “Given this operating and economic situation, we had two options, one was to merge and the other option is to intervene.”
“With the intervention, the government wants to order the house, that jobs are not lost, that there is not a deficit in care, organize it economically and that it can continue to move,” said the president.
He assured that “there is a very important interest on the part of the Galician government. Casa de Galicia has to continue operating and will continue to have the assistance it has had from a national point of view and perhaps also from an international point of view ”.
Extensive trajectory
For his part, the Minister of Public Health, Daniel Salinas, remarked that the mutual institution has a long history, linked to the Galician community and has an infrastructure that is essential for the Integrated Health System.
He said that the intervention seeks to strengthen the institution because the serious economic and financial situation has led it to request the contest. “We are convinced and we are going to make every effort and will to preserve the institution, the quality of care for its members and the protection of job sources.”
